Dünya Dillerindeki Tanrı Kavramını Karşılayan Sözcüklerinin Kökenine Dair Bir Deneme

Year 2022, Volume: 1 Issue: 1, 9 - 22, 12.06.2022

Abstract

An Essay on the Origin of Words Used as the Concept of God in World Languages

Year 2022, Volume: 1 Issue: 1, 9 - 22, 12.06.2022

Abstract

This research has the feature of an experiment on the origin of the words that correspond to the concept of god in world languages. In total, more than a hundred languages have been the subject of the research, and for the words that meet the concept of god in these languages, the word that is in the first place in terms of frequency of use in the translation program provided by the general web search engine is taken as a basis. The obtained words were first given as a complete list, and then they were classified into seven groups according to their morphological structure-sound structure characteristics. Afterwards, some etymological evaluations were given for each group, and in the last step, the words in the seven groups were tried to be reduced to a single origin (with exceptions) by taking into account their semantic references. Thus, a singular wealth of religious discourse, which took thousands of years, was also revealed. Since the words mentioned in the research were analyzed from an etymological point of view, the cultural and mythological depths of these words could not naturally be delved into
