From 1990s, especially with the influential effects of globalization, flourishing of transportation and information-communication technologies, exchange rate and exchange rate policies became one of the most significant economic tools. Implementation of exchange rate systems and policies affect macroeconomic variables and in particular foreign trade. In this study, we try to interpret exchange rate behaviors in response to macroeconomic variables to contribute to the discussion of which countries will be accepted as a member to BRICS countries which became popular especially after 1990s. For this reason, Turkey and BRICS (T-BRICS) countries the short and long term relationship of exchange rate behaviors with macro economical aggregates has been examined using 2002:1-2013:11 monthly data. According to the results of the study, for only two countries import has no significant affect on the exchange rate, one of which is remarkably Turkey. Another finding is that the coefficient of the inflation rate is the highest for Turkey. The inflation rate affects with an extremely high coefficient the exchange rate in Tukey. These results provide guidance for Turkey for macroeconomic variables affecting the exchange rate if Turkey would like to become a member of BRICS
